LANGTANG VALLEY TREK
Langtang valley trekking is situated in the north of Kathmandu valley. It is one of the most popular trekking areas in Nepal, as the trekking to the area offers a multitude of trekking destinations. Langtang valley lies at the south of the Tibetan border and situated between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Langtang Lirung (7246m) lies to the north; Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kanga ri (5846m) lie to the south and Dorje Lakpa(6966m) at the east of the valley.
Langtang valley trekking is also called the valley of glaciers trek. Langtang is the closest destination to get the massive snow capped mountains and beautiful glaciers. This valley is located only 19 miles north of Kathmandu. The whole valley is dominated by Mount Langtang Lirung (7246 m/23766 ft) and offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow-capped peaks, grassy lawn and meadows.
Langtang valley trekking you take around 8 hours drive from Kathmandu. The starting point of trekking is Syabrubesi. From Syabrubesi, you will follow the Langtang River to the east until you get to Kyangin Gompa (3,049/10000 ft) with the overnight stay at Lama Hotel, Langtang valley respectively. On the fourth day, you will arrive at Langtang valley. In this valley, besides natural wonders, you also visit local Tibetan village and see their lifestyle. The last destination of this trekking is Kyanjin Gompa. You visit ancient Buddhist monastery and glaciers in Langtang. Here, you stay one more day on next day you get an opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m/14268 ft). From the top, you will get 360-degree mountain views of Langtang region.
Langtang valley trekking is more existing long day walk to Langshisha, Kharka. From Kyanjing Gompa the trail heading east and trail follow the valley past the turnoff to Tsergo Ri and past the airfield. It is a long walking, approximately 10 hours, from Kyanjing Gompa. Our guide will carry some snacks and water. We also recommend bringing snacks and some water with you. Along the way, you get some great views of the nearby peaks including Dorje Lakpa, and eventually Shisha Pangma, the only 8,000-meter peak in Tibet. The trail accents a few minutes after that continue to be a pass through the moraines, you reach a Langshisha Kharka, which is marked by a number of poles with prayer flags. After having a pack lunch, return to the Kayanjing Gompa. The Langtang valley trekking is one of the enjoyable short trekking routes in Nepal. From Kyangjin, you retrace your route back down from valley to Syabrubesi and then drive back to Kathmandu.
TREKKING TYPE: MODIRATE TREKKING: SOME IMPORTANT NOTES:
It is the best package for beginners who would like to explore the Himalayas on foot. This Trekking will be slow walk, resting in different beautiful spots, the trails will be a stone stairs as well as small narrow and snow paths through different jungle area, moist muddy area. You should be very careful while walking in trails, there will be small pebbles, stones hence need to step carefully, and your slightest mistake can result into huge problem in case you hurt your legs. Nevertheless, you need not worry as our guide is always there to assist you in difficult situations. During December there might be snow hence you need good trekking shoes which is not slippery and water proof.
We’d like to suggest you to start small jogging in your area which will help you a lot to warm up and prior starting this trek your legs should fit and fine for normal walk. The temperature will be very low minus 0 degree at night, windy and day time high sun lights hence you need both warm clothes, wind proof jackets, pants woolen caps, soft summer cloths, sunglasses, suns cream, gloves etc. No worries, you can buy very cheap near your hotel area which call Thamel.
As soon as you walk on high altitude the oxygen level will be low. Hence, sometimes you might have headaches, vomit and nausea. If you really feel uncomfortable our guide will give you a medicine e.g. Diamox which will help you to reduce you headache.
You should walk slowly as per the guidance of our guide. One should drink plenty of water and garlic soups, specially recommend to have local foods like Dal, Vat Tarkari also known as famous Thakali Set (combination of Lintel, with rice and fresh vegetables & pickles) which will help you to acclimatize and highly energetic to boost your energy. The tea house also serves many Chinese items like Noodles and many more. Drinking alcohol can be cause of high altitude sickness, hence, please don’t take any alcohol during trekking. Avoid dairy items, meat which might cause you diarrhoea.
Touchwood, if in case of any serious illness or accident we will evacuate by helicopter from the spot. Please note health insurance is necessary which will help you to cover all your rescue and hospitalize costs.
This is an adventurous trip so you need to prepare from all sides. You will walk higher from sea levels to the world’s highest mountain zone.
